Twilight of the Apes

If you have ever seen the original Planet of the Apes film from 1968, and if you have ever seen more than a few episodes of Rod Serling's classic Twilight Zone TV series, you can clearly see Serling's influence on the Apes script. I've said for years that the film (which I love, by the way) plays like a big Twilight Zone episode.

As you can imagine I was quite amused when I came across a black and white 30 minute edit of Planet of the Apes which conforms the movie to the Twilight Zone TV broadcast format. It isn't perfect and there are some dramatic time leaps between commercial breaks, but all in all, I think the editor did a bang up job merging the the show with the film.

YouTube has taken down the videos after a request by CBS, but if you go to this site...

...you can download the short film and view it on your computer.

If you have any fondness of the Apes movies or Twilight Zone, you should give it a look.
