The Dark Knight

I saw the Dark Knight yesterday. It makes all the other films I've seen this year seem like nothing more than popcorn movies. I've see a lot of good movies this year, but this one tops them all.

It's not a perfect movie, but  the flaws are minimal. I've never seen the genre treated so seriously on film. The performances are strong and believable. The plot and dialogue are tightly executed. I believed that this situation could exist in the real world.

The Joker will never be the same to me. I never saw the character as a truly frightening menace until now.

The themes of morality, justice, sacrifice and loss are presented with so much depth and variation in meaning as to give the viewer much to consider in regard to the world we live in.

I've caught myself thinking about the movie a lot over the last 24 hours. It's haunting me.

I saw it with Corey on Saturday as well. After having a few days to think about it, it rates as one of my favorite movies of all time. The movie was very tight in all aspects. It just left you with a sense that you HAD to give thought to what's going on in the real world. I thought Bale get a great job of showing more depth to Batman than ever has been shown on film. I actually felt sorry for him. The choices he had to make were agonizing. Ledger's performance was absolutely amazing. I too will never see the Joker in the same way. I spent most of Sunday in a funk because of this movie. It wasn't just a comic-book movie. It was graet story telling. I will go see it again.

The movie really is like a Shakespearian tragedy.

I loved it, but it definitely is not the "feel good" movie of the summer.

Can't wait to see it again. Hey why don't you fly out and we'll take in a matinee?

Yeah, OK. Right after I pay the July AC bill, both kids' college tuition and for the new set of tires for the truck......

I think I'll enjoy it more the 2nd time, just because I'll be prepared for it. Went back and re-read "The Dark Knight Returns" over the weekend. Now if I can just find "The Watchmen".....
